I’m new to Apple computers and software. I have an older power mac currently running Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro version 5. I want to buy Final Cut Pro version 6 from someone who doesn’t need it any more. Can I buy this software and install it on my computer if I have all the correct documentation? I would buy version 7 but my computer does not have Intel chips in it and I’m told it will not run version 7. Went to the Apple store and was told that “no” I couldn’t do this by one tech and “yes” you could do it by another.

I would think that it would be OK, as long as they have not used the license to upgrade to a newer version.
I wonder if it’s possible to de-register the product, so that you can re-register as the new owner. That way, you could buy the upgrades later-on.

I’m not sure if this is the most current one, but it usually is listed like this:

    store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/FinalCutProSWlicense.pdf

“3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the Apple Software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License; (b) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (c) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License.”
