Can you link Audio Waveform to another effect?
Hi,
I am wondering (and just thinking creatively) if you can link Audio Waveform when connected to an audio track to another effect on another layer – say Cell Pattern for instance. I have played around a bit but I cannot see that any of the values change over time although Audio Waveform is animating. I also cannot see that any keyframes have been created.
I was thinking of using expressions to link properties.

Right click on audio and Under keyframe assistant, convert audio to keyframes

Brilliant. Thank you. Creates a null with the keyframes. Perfect.
Is there an easy way to reduce the keyframes without either manually doing it? I want a smoother movement but don’t want to lose the ‘in time to music’ feel.

Choose all the keyframes you would like to reduce, then go to window -> Smoother. Smoothing at a tolerance of 1, should do the trick.
A more robust(but costly) option is Trapcodes Soundkeys. I believe the demo version will allows you to sample 10 seconds of audio, so if your work is less than that, you are all set.
