Can you link 4 channel audio?
Hi,
Using FCP 7, I’ve got footage here with 4 channels of audio (though sound only visible in waveforms on first two channels). I was wondering if you can link them and make them act like a stereo pair, like you can with two channels?
For example, I’m using the pen tool a lot, and at the moment I have to draw on each channel separately which is pretty time consuming. Is there a way I can draw on one and it copies on the others, like with a stereo pair?Thankyou!

Yes, and no.
yes you can links the 4 tracks, as Shane says, (and indeed you SHOULD have them linked)
but no, they won’t behave the way you want them to, like a Stereo clip.your rubber-banding of the audio level is on a single track only.
often this is good, as the separate tracks often have quite different audio.
but when you quickly want al tracks to follow that same volume graphing, its a pain.what i do after key-faring the first track, is to select the clip (all tracks)
Copy (Command C)
then Paste Attributes (Option Command V)you get a warning “can only copy from the first track” (or something like that), but that’s OK.
select Levels in the Paste Attributes window, hit OK, and you’re done.still a bit of a drag….
obviously if it’s to ease something in or out, just add an audio transition.

Oh yes, I should’ve been more clear. They are indeed linked, I just wanted them to behave like a pair.
Paste attributes is much faster than drawing 4 times – brilliant, thank you.
