Can you extract P2 Audio by itself?
My problem may seem a little silly, but nonetheless exists.
I have tried searching for this answer and have come up empty handed.
Scenario:
The film crew on the short I am editing did not have an audio recorder on set for the shoot. They did however have a spare HVX-200 and decided it would be the equivalent to a sound recorder. However, no one took into account, the file size difference going into post.
I am also editing the project using Final Cut Studio 6.
Question:
Does anyone know if you are capable of pulling the audio (audio metadata) off of a P2 card (i.e. the Contents folder) without the video?
The result I am going for in the senario would be to save disk space. Thus, not having all of the extra video files that I wouldn’t need and simply using the files as if they were mp3s, aiff, wav files or another editable audio format.
Hopefully someone can come up with a solution and save me some disk space.

In the Log and Transfer window, there is a button below the Viewer window…called IMPORT OPTIONS. Click on that, and disable VIDEO. Now it will only import audio.

Worked like a charm! I had to stretch my window layout out a bit for the option to even appear. Was the problem from the start.
