I’ve been upgrading Creative Suite programs, at irregular intervals (not every version). I’m currently at CS 5.5 on Mac OS.

Given the uncertainty about the future of Mac Pro computers, I’m wondering whether to upgrade to CS 6, or sign onto Adobe’s subscription model. In favor of subscription, as I understand it, is that you can download the software for use on up to two computers, any combination of Mac or PC.

otoh, I don’t like the uncertainty of Adobe’s future price increases for subscriptions. If I buy a license, at least it’s mine.

So one question: if I take advantage of the reduced price for subscription for current CS owners, can I change my mind at a later time and buy the software outright, if Adobe jacks up the monthly fee too much?

    Your thoughts?

Adobe sales to small business through their business store don’t tie the licenses to any platform; you get a serial number for both platforms (OS X and Windows).

While there isn’t a “coupon” or discount from moving from the “cloud” back to a pre-paid seat, I can’t imagine why it couldn’t be done.

I’d think, worst case, you’d just have to pay the upgrade from your last “boxed set” to the current version, whatever that may be. I’m worried about Adobe getting stupid with licensing too, but I gotta say, I’m loving the cloud subscription right now. I can easily move from work to home by simply deactivating one or the other, etc. Very nice. Plus, being able to go from Mac to PC and back is also a huge bonus.
