Please do! Maybe it will become an anthem.

SATA drives are all I buy. I have a 4-bay and a 2-bay enclosure that do the job for me.

March 30, 2007 at 6:35 amThanks a lot to all.
Finally we will go for internal sata drives, and we will make them in RAID probably. I think it should work fine with 8bits uncompressed.
I will run the test for hard drive speed to check how it could work. We were thinking about Lacie cause we can wich them between machines but i saw also hot swap SATA drives in raid.
I agree with all the people in the print to video problem…. am a bit scared cause we dont wanna lose this client.
THANKS TO ALL!!!!
PS: can i manage by myself to make 2 hard drives in raid???

March 30, 2007 at 11:26 amHi percheron’
Up to the Blackmagic Speed Test, all my LaCies (5 or 6 200Gbs/FireWire 400 and a 350Gbs FireWire 800) are able to read a write 8-10b YUV 422 and 10-12b RGB 444. True? Lie?
Good luck.

Finally we have decided for the internal SATA drives. Easy, cheaper, and we will buy another LACIE to move projects between computers.
REALLY THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR INFO….
I trust on my Lacie, but this time i go for the fixed aim!!!!
THX!!!

After we killed two CalDigit S2VR HD’s and a set of Duo’s I’m really thankful for the LaCie 2TB FW800 RAID (less than $900!) because it completely saved our butt in delivering about 8 network shows over two weeks. Our LaCie SATA units are solid though, running over a year on one unit and about 8 months with the other with no hiccups.
But I’ve cut dozens of 8bitSD, DVCPro HD and DV on FW800 RAID units and have no problems with them, would even do 10bit SD on them if they were 50% or less full. Over that I would have the same concerns as you with dropping frames on 10bit.

Walter,
Yikes!!! This doesn’t exactly speak very highly for the CalDigit product. What exactly was the issue that cause these problems for you, was it their hardware or the drives inside? Any idea???
I believe you were essentially beta testing for them, right??? If so, I certainly hope your bad experience helped them iron out the problems.
