  • Can Vegas use DVCPRO HD footage

I looked in the archives and did not find a specific answer to this question. The Sony website does not mention support for DVCPRO HD. It only mentions HDV.

So just to be sure I figure I ask the gang hear. Does Vegas support DVCPRO HD? My final output will be a DVD, so i know I’ll loose quality. So is there a way to downgrade the DVCPRO HD footage to HDV quality and then use that in Vegas? I guess the same goes for DVCPRO 25 & 50 as well.
    Thanks.

As far as I know the only DVCPro HD solution for Vegas is a third party codec from Serious Magic. $195.

there is nothing in the sony 24p whitepaper that mentions DVCproHD …

Vegas does not handle native DVCproHD clips …
you must use a 3rd party intermediate
cineform (.com), serious magic (.com), and raylight (dvfilm.com) all offer software to convert the panasonic MFX files into clips vegas can handle ..

note: not all MFX files are the same .. sony has their MFX , panasonic has their own, and avid has their …
