  Can Vegas Platinum do These?

  Hi there,

  I’m just looking at buying Vegas Platinum, and it seems to do most of what I want, but the sales blurb is a bit vague on a lot of the compositing stuff.

  I’ve already tried the free trial to answer a bunch of questions, but it ran out before I managed to find answers to all of them.

  What I’m wondering is:

  1. If Vegas can export to sequences of images. If so, and I choose something like TIF or PNG, will it retain transparency?

  2. If it’s possible to take a video matte, apply it to another video clip and then render that out, leaving some sections transparent?

  In otherwords can I take a clip like:
  

  Apply something like this:
  
  as a Matte, to end up with something like this:

  

  So I can then use all 4 of my meagre video tracks for video rather than wasting half of them on Mattes.

  3. Lastly, is there anything in general a newbie to Vegas should be aware of? I’m using it mainly for compositing, a little soundwork and mastering to DVD.
