can .pca sound files be imported (even indirectly)?
G’day,
Several years ago, my wife and I used Video Vegas (as it was known then) to edit our home videos. The last version we bought came with 1,001 sound effects, which was fun to use when putting together tapes for kids.
The files are in a .pca format, which Final Cut Pro 4.5 doesn’t recognise. Can anyone help with the following questions?
1. Can .pca files be converted into something which FCP 4.5 can use? For example, can I use Peak Express (which was bundled when we bought Sound Soap 2)? Is there a suitable conversion utility for audio?
2. If converting .pca files are an issue, are there collections of loops which are suitable for home videos which are available for purchase? I understand that people making commercial videos use professional sound effects, but they’re presumably above the budget of hobbyists. Are there sound collections suitable for hobbyists, with a price to match? We’re very happy to pay for stuff, we just want to stay within our budget.

The pca extension seems to be a windows media based extension. if you can get these files open in some form of software and export them as .aiff or aif files at 48k then FCP will have no problem reading them.
