May 1, 2006 at 4:59 pmAbsolutely. pIllusion is designed to work with both still and motion video. I use it in professional work all the time by combining it with After Effects.
Make sure to export out of pIllusion with an alpha channel.
Do yourself a favor, and take the time to go through the help files. They are in tutorial form and will really get you going. Or if you would rather go the rout of video training, check out http://www.creativecowtraining.net to purchase Elvis Deane’s “The Apprentice Magicians Guide to particleIllusion 3.”

May 1, 2006 at 10:53 pmActually if you go through the help files, you’ll find that this is one of the easiest programs you will ever use. Download the Demo (if you haven’t already) check out the free tutorials, found here:

…and then start having fun.
And yes, we’re here to help.

May 1, 2006 at 11:18 pmyah man ive been messing around with the demo and i like it a lot. i really dont know what im doing but what im wondering is if anyone ever uses it with vegas? and like whats the big difference between the demo and the real version.

May 2, 2006 at 2:32 amThe main difference between the 3.0 demo and full version is that you get about 1400 more emitters with the full version, and you don’t get a watermark in your renders.
I use it with Vegas sometimes, there’s a tutorial on using the two together here.

May 3, 2006 at 6:26 amYou can grab ShowIEL, a free program that lets you load up any library and look at the emitters in them. That’s the best way to try out all the other effects.

May 3, 2006 at 4:07 pmThanks for that tutorial link. I never heard of using a frame server before. That is a great shortcut for bringing in short clips to do a quick match in PI. Fun stuff!
