  • Can one edit out sections of a program and retain audio nodes in an envelope?

Posted by Larry Watts on April 20, 2005 at 4:07 pm

This is a hassle that I’ve not been able to resolve?

I routinely edit 30 min TV programs and then edit out sections in order to compile several programs together as a DVD.
I “save as “the original program into a new VEgas project.
I cut out several sections in the new projects, but when I do the audio envelope stays with the timeline, not with the clips.

Is there a better way to approach this?
I need to keep the original individual clips so I can remix the audio to the new timing.

    Thanks

    Let me try again!

I take a 30 minute TV program and need to cut out three sections of 5 or so minutes each. These sections are deleted and the remaining programs sections fill the gaps with new transitions.

The issue for me is that the audio volume envelope nodes(via insert point) and the changes over the timeline in the audio envelope get shortened when the sections are deleted and no longer stay in relationship with the audio file it originally modified.

So the audio envelope must be completely redone when a program is shortened (or lengthened)

    Does this help?

    thanks

Make sure “Lock Envelopes to Events” is turned on.

    Edward,
    Thank You!
I have overlooked that function entirely!

I thought there might be a simple solution to my issue.

I need to experiment wit its use now.

    thanks again.
