[Andreas Karoliussen] “Name in final cut: “cars under bridge. tilt cloud, airplane”
Name in Finder: “cars under bridge. tilt cloud, airplane”
Name in Reconnect window: “cars under bridge. tilt cloud – airplane tilt cloud – airplane.””

Yep, I see the same thing here on some of my files, but FCP is able to reconnect to them just fine. I’m taking an Avid OMF and recapturing it in FCP and they always have something like “kitchen with pan to oven.tk1” and it will often show up as “oven-tk1” I’ve only seen this since I switched to FCP 5.1.1 so it may be something that’s due to the new file management structure implimented with this release.

But FCP seems to do just fine reconnecting properly to my clips as if it knows that it has changed the file name.

[Andreas Karoliussen] “my problem is that in the reconnect window FCP repeats the last part of the file name and therefore will not reconnect.”

Ok, that’s a different issue than what I’m seeing here. I’m not seeing any sort of duplication within the file names.

I found that when FCP gets recalcitrant about reconnecting to a particular file which I can see is there, I change the search from “Video” (default) to “ALL” and then select that file manually in the window. I had this problem 2 days ago and, when my panic subsided, this was the answer for me.

    Best

    Harry.
