I have a Final Cut Pro 4.5 connected to an AJA IO then to a JVC D9 deck.

Until about 2 weeks ago I have been able to perform insert edits, but recently I started getting a message prior to the attempt to edit that says. Final Cut may not be able to perform the following edit because the duration is only 1 frame.

This happens with edits ranging from 10 seconds to 3 minuets.

I can’t think of any changes in the system that have been made.

My pre-roll time is set to 5 se, and I have even tried 10 sec.

    Any suggestins would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you tried rebooting your Io? Aja also released new drivers recently. I don’t know if they are Tiger specific or not, but you can download them from Aja’s website. If all else fails, Aja’s tech support is outstanding and will more than likely be able to help troubleshoot.

I’d second that, I’m sure the AJA gang will get you back up and running pretty quickly.

I had this same problem a few weeks ago, unfortunately I can’t remember how I fixed it, but I’m guessing I unplugged the Io and plugged it back in after waiting a couple seconds. That seems to fix most Io issues for me.

When I get this problem I change the edit in point a few frames and then it works. I get this error sometimes with a D9 and IO.

BTW what do you have set as your preroll with the D9 deck? I had to set mine to 8 seconds or it won’t lock up in time. All my other machines (DVCPro, DVCPro 50, Beta Sp) can use a 3 second preroll but the D9 needs 8 seconds.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It seems like power cycling the AJA did the trick,

BTW I have a 5 sec pre-roll on the D-9 decks and I’m also using the AJA to RS-422 NTSC Device controll with then VITC and LTC, not the one with just the LTC.

    Again thanks for the suggestions.
I didn’t even think it could be the AJA because I was getting the error even before it tried to roll t?e deck.

    Thanks
