  • Can Multibridge Pro v2 handle 2k?

    Hi,

I have been trying to find out if the Multibridge Pro v2 is able to work with 2k 24fps, but I get different answers from different sources… I know that the Multibridge Eclipse can do it but I don’t need all the extra connectors.

FYI, I plan to connect the multibridge to a HD Link Pro and an Apple 30″ monitor.

    Hi.

I have also new Pro and it can and for the clear information please check this url:

    https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/multibridge/techspecs/

    It clearly says: 2K Format Support 2048 x 1556/23.98 and 24.

Main difference i see is the amount of audio input output.
    Eclipse has just more.

    Great!

Thank you for confirming it. I had alredy seen the tech specs, but my reseller claimed that the eclipse was the only model capable of handling 2k. I guess it’s just a misunderstanding from the fact that the old Pro version didn’t support 2k (or maybe they just want to sell me the more expensive model…)

More expensive is always better do not you know that 😉

Yes sales people in computer stores etc try to sell you as much as they can. You just have trust producer information there more and your knowledge and actual needs etc.

    Good luck.

    Hi Guys

I think this one is nicely wrapped up! The Multibridge Pro 2 and HD Link Pro is a great choice for 2K output over 3Gb/s SDI, as well as having the advantage of being a Bi-Directional video convertor.

Margus is right that one of the main factors for upgrading to the Eclipse is the benefit of much more audio inputs and outputs! If your budget is a bit tighter, and you don’t neccessarily need a breakout box, then it may be worth considering the Decklink HD Extreme 2, which has almost the same connectivity of the Multibridge, including the 3Gb/s SDI for up to 2k, using the HD Link to connect to a 30″ cinema display.
