    Can MC on a Mac create OMF mediafiles?

    Hi everyone,

    Haven’t been here in years, but a quick question.

    I have Avid Media Composer 3.1.3 running on a Mac Pro. I don’t have a Mojo.

    My media creation options seem only to be MXF, but I’m about to start a job where I’ll be inheriting media from a PC Avid. There is a large amount of media in OMFI format which I’d like to transfer to my system.

    Can my Media Composer read the OMFI Mediafiles folders if I copy them straight off the PC?

    Yes.

    Also, Avid can do OMF or MXF on Mac or PC, but you have to change your Media Creation settings to OMF. With version 3.x onward it defaults to MXF.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for your response. I took a closer look, and found the tab to change MXF to OMF was the very last one under Media Creation.

    Should have taken a closer look before posting!
