  • Can I zoom in on HD footage in SD timeline?

so i’m scratching my head over this one….
I have HD EX3 captured footage 1080i in a similar sequence. If I change the project format settings to SD it still looks great!
However, if I apply scale it pixelates.

Is there any way to keep the HD footage in an SD project so I can zoom in on it to crop unwanted parts???

Off the top of my head without looking at it.

resizing with Pan and Zoom or 3D warp might produce a better result

Unlike in FCP (which I am guessing you are more used to), HD footage does not stay HD sized when you change to an SD project.

The footage is downconverted to SD….so it no longer is 1920 x 1080 its 720 x 486. Thats why its degrading when you resize. It might look great, but its SD as long as your project settings are SD.

Are you on a Symphony? You can downconvert your HD video output in hardware instead of switching to SD.
