  • Can I switch back to CC3 captured DV (10hrs)

Posted by Hector Melendez on October 31, 2008 at 4:52 am

Well, I made the mistake of capture 10hrs of DV footage using Premiere cc4. (I didn’t know/read about the multi bugs)

First, I can’t preview the timeline thru my video card. I had to use the 1394 cable back to the DV player, then to my monitor.

Second, I’m not able to export a still frame. I went to Adobe Wikia to look for an answer but the still image is not in the “format menu” that it refer to.

Third I don’t want to go further to find I can’t export or finish my production.
I tried to import the footage into CC3 but it say: “The project could not be loaded, it may be damage or contain outdated elements”

    What I can do???
Adobe have any updated or fix to all this bugs?

You should be able to import the DV captured files. I’ve done this and it worked fine. It appears the message you got is because you tried to import the project file, which is CS4 and can’t be imported to CS3. If you have an edit already you’ll need to use the EDL export function to bring it into CS3. AAF can help, but that won’t be brought back to CS4 until end of Nov 08.

I have read that still frame export goes through Media Encoder – seems like an extra step compared to Ctrl+Shift+M, but new versions of software often move functions around.

You get the same error if you try to open a CS3 project in CS2. However try importing rather than opening. I have gotten this to work from CS3 to CS2, although with errors.

[Hector Melendez] “First, I can’t preview the timeline thru my video card.”

Without more details I’m not sure how you expect us to help you with this.

[Hector Melendez] “Second, I’m not able to export a still frame.”

    This is well documented.

The message you quote is about importing a project file, not importing footage. You cannot import newer version project files into older versions of Premiere Pro.
