  • Can I split screen the color page viewer with an offline cut without using the Resolve control surface.

    Hi All

I know I can compare the two in the conform page but I was wondering if from an actual session point with the client if can use the Color Page Viewer window to compare it to the offline flattened movie without using the Resolve panel?

I was reading the manual and it sounds like there is only a control surface way to be able to compare an offline cut with a cut that you are grading.

    (1) I am wondering if anyone knows of a another way that I can get a split screen view of both the cut in my color window and the flattened offline cut.

    (2) Also on and FCP XML conform i’ve noticed a couple of clips that said they had a “timecode extents” error. I have found that some of them were due to a mismatch in framerate (i.e 29.97 in a 59.94 timeline) i have not been able to decipher the problems with the others. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks again to the outstanding moderators of this board and all their help.

There is no way I know of to put an offline split on the output monitor, at least not while it’s playing, control surface or not. You can access the different wipe and mix modes by right clicking on the left monitor on the Conform page while selected on the Offline tab.

You can use the Wipe-Offline mode to do this, but you will not get live playback as this uses the gallery interface to provide the functionality.

You can right-click on the color page viewer, and change the Ref Mode. Everything you hit Stop, or switch into a new clip, the reference image will update.

Well, I think this is a reasonable request to make.
Either we would have good playback performance in the conform tab do overlay or side by side there, or we should be able to play back the offline together with Grading.
It’s really hard to recreate animated scales and pans with an offline that is static .

    Hi Sascha,

On the conform page it is already possible to do this. If you right click on the offline viewer it will give you various options on how you would like to view it, wipes / mixes etc.. and both playback simultaneously.

I use this for all resizing checks etc..

    Hope this helps!

That is correct, I can check it, but I cant change it.
The idea of a conform should be to have access to the PTZR controls to overlay the image, or better video, and be able to adjust the offsets.
    Including animations.

    as sascha said ..
in the conform page you can’t scale and animate …

but for me the main issue is that client ask me to playback the offline on the client monitor all the time , plus they ask me to playback offline and online side by side … i guess because base light does it , so they “”pretend”” that every system does it …

i honestly like the idea …
so i would love to have the offline playback on the big screen side by side with the online …either using the playheads or using the Ref offline engine …

    thanks

While I’d love for the implementation to be as perfect as it is in the conform page, I have to admit, I’m making due just fine as it is now.

By having the compare to offline selected as rohit expained, I just set it to split frame, and hit next to get through the whole timeline. When I hit a push in, toggling the “play still” (or shortcut) updates the current frame of the offline. I scale the shot based on the first frame, jump to the end of the shot, refresh to see if it needs keyframes, and then jump to the next shot.
