  • Can I Seperate The Audio Track from the Video Clip?

Posted by Jerry Neal on May 9, 2007 at 1:57 am

    Hello,

I have a clip where I would like to “roll back” the audio portion but leave the attached video track in the same position on the timeline. Is there a way to seperate the audio from the video track? I want to have new audio being heard before the video changes to a new scene.

Also, there have been times that I’ve wanted to delete the audio track completely but keep the video associated with the clip. However, when I’ve tried to do this in Vegas 7 (right click on the audio then delete), it always removes the video too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats because the clip(s) are grouped so you can do 1 of 3 things depending on what you want to do.
To get rid of the audio completely without taking away the video you can right click on the track header and delete the audio track completely OR just highlight the audio clip(s) and hit DELETE pretty much does the same thing.
To “roll back” the audio simply highlite either the video or audio and hit the “U” to Ungroup the the video and audio then you can have at it with either OR hit the button on the tool bar to Ignore Event Grouping-does the same.
    I ususally just Ungroup.
    Whatever works for you.

    Hi,

OR, you can mute the entire audio track when you don’t want it. If you want it back simply unmute the track.
