Hey, I read their terms of service and it says you can NOT resell any of their templates. Does this mean I cant use this to make intros and commercials for my clients?

I don’t speak for them but typically a template license only prohibits you from reselling the template itself as a template. You are generally granted a royalty free license to use it as a template in your own projects for hire. But that’s not the same thing at all- get it?

This is exactly what I was asking, I just don’t know 100% so I’m kind of weary.

You might check if the license indicates that you are able to create “derivative works”…I believe that would cover what you are doing.

All the license says is, You may not resell these templates. thats it.

To me, it sound like you are good. If that is all their license says then it appears that they have not been explicit enough. I am no lawyer but I have written my own photographic licenses (based on research) and I was much more specific regarding sale, distributio , reproduction etc.

Yup- they are obviously not too concerned about it or they would have crafted more complex legalese for their website. AS mentioned above- I have little doubt you are completely clear to use these templates in your for hire work, as long as that work is not selling templates to other Motion users. But if you’re really worried I’m sure an email or phone call to the template maker would be wise.

    Hi Thomas,

Our products are Royalty Free however you are NOT allowed to sell or resale our templates in the same form as it’s been purchased. You are allowed to sell final result to your client. For example, you purchase the template but you can’t re-sell it, however you can modify it and sell the final output (final render).

Let me know if that answers your question.
