  • Can I mix 2 Lavs on Canon XA10?

    Hey All,

    First timer here…

I have 2 sony XLR lavs (UWP D-11) and when I connect both to the XLR ports I get Channel 1 on Left and Channel 2 on Right (or something like that). Is it possible to get both channels to mix? I’ll be shooting a 1-on-1interview, each will be wearing a lav. Please help!

    Thanks,
    Steve

    No you cannot do that.
Because nobody really wants to do that
Because it is typically “mixed” during post-production editing.

If you want to mix the two microphones together in real-time during shooting, then you will need a mixer. Note, however that is exactly what most of us try to AVOID doing. Because mixing live in real-time is something best left to an experienced audio person. And something tells me you don’t have a dedicated sound person.

Thanks, Richard. The issue I figured out is that I was playing the video clips in Premiere in the preview window and was hearing the left and right separately. I realized that once I exported the video it all became stereo. Hours of research and banging my head with such a simple solution…

    Thanks again!
