Can I match a Canon 7d and an HMC-150?
I’ve joined a project where one person has been shooting so far everything with a Canon 7D. I shoot with an HMC-150. Any thoughts about shooting a project with these two cameras? Will it be too much of a pain in post to match footage from both cameras?

Really depends what you mean by match. Color/gamma wise anything’s possible with a waveform monitor/vector scope and careful color grading. Optically, it would depend on the lens the 7D has mounted. Due to the much larger sensor, the 7D will tend to have much shallower depth of field than the 150. So I could see shooting with these two cameras but I wouldn’t expect shots taken from the both of them to be interchangeable- instead I’d shoot to the strengths of each cam and block shots accordingly.

I guess it would be great to use them together, using the Canon for closeups and details and the HMC150 for larger, more establishing shots. that logic make sense?

Yep- that’s one approach. Depends what lenses you have for the Canon of course. The rest is sort of the art of the shot.

I own the Canon 60d and the Panny HMC-150
I shot a wedding with both, in a similar manner that you described…
Panny for the wide shots and Canon for the tight shots…Post was a pain in the butt, that said, it did end up working out alright…
I don’t think I’d do it again, unless I had to… they just look different.The footage out of my 60d was far easier to work with in post, (it held up better to grading and just had more latitude within the picture itself, which blew my mind) and ended up looking better, in my opinion…
although in the end the client couldn’t tell two different kinds of cameras were used… so I guess that’s what’s important.
