Can I import the ‘camera flash’ effect from After Effects 7 to Premiere Pro?
Posted by Onesupercooper on February 4, 2007 at 3:54 amI found the camera flash effect I’d like to use in After Effects 7 presets. I have Production Studio Premium. Is there any way to import the preset from After Effects to Premiere Pro? Or, how would I duplicate that exact effect and save it? Thank the heavens for this community of your great minds!

February 4, 2007 at 7:24 amDO you know if it is a plug in or a “native “effect to After Effects ?
Many plug ins will work in both applications.
BTW – I have never seen (noticed)any camera flash effect in AFX although I have a second party plug-in that does it in PPro (that I assume would work in AFX but have never had need to try it).

February 4, 2007 at 2:47 pmThank you for your response! I believe this is a native effect, as I have not added any plug-ins for this program, other than what came on the install disc. The effect in AFX is actually Transitions>Fades>Fade to White in AFX. I see in PPro a Fade to Black transition, but cant’ change it to Fade to White. I had wondered that since this is a “studio” of software, that it might be able to share effects across programs. Although I’ve been using PPro for about a year, I still consider myself a fairly new user and would not know how to import this effect to add to the library of effects. I had thought about converting it and then importing it as an avi, but I have never used AFX (on my list of programs to learn) and when I tried to ‘open’ this effect to see what it did, nothing happened. Of course, I had no footage or anything to transition…I was just trying to see if it opened. Perhaps I tried to open it incorrectly. Thank you both so much for your time and effort!
BTW, what third party plug-in do you have that has this effect? -

February 4, 2007 at 6:16 pmWhat I did to recreate this in Premiere Pro was to animate the levels effect starting at normal at a dozen frames before the end of the clip to all white at the end. This blows out the whites first so I like it better than fading to a white clip.
I save the effect as a preset and mark it for “Anchor to Out Point”.
I do the same thing in reverse for the first part of a clip. Set it to normal at 12 frames in and back up to the beginning and make it all white. Save it set to “Anchor at In Point”.
You will be able to easily apply this for any clip in any project. Remember that you might want to slice the video just previous to the effect or just after before applying the preset, or you will have to render the entire clip and not just the area of interest.
