I have a Canon 550D and in every photo and video I take there is a small red dot in the centre of the photo toward the top right corner. you might be able to make it out on this photo against the white of the projection screen.

I have tried all the techniques for stuck pixels but nothing prevails. I have a feeling a laser at a club may have fried the sensor. Does anyone know if it cost much to replace the sensor?

If I cant fix it, I need to get a new DSLR for photographing and filming video art installations and concerts, I would like to go for a full frame camera but dont want to spend the price of a 5D, so have been looking at the 6D however reading reports of there being issues with video and the noticeable moire effect.

Can anyone suggest a sub $1500 DSLR which will rival the 6D, and perhaps an all round lens that I should buy for documenting video art installation and projection screens at concerts? Or should I just keep it simple go with a 700D with the smaller sensor?

    Thanks!
