  • Can I find a missing plug-in with the error code?

Posted by Robert St-onge on March 23, 2011 at 12:31 am

I have an older project that needs to be re-rendered in Vegas 10c but unfortunately I am missing a plugin when loading the project in 32 bits Vegas.

Is there a way to track down the plugins with the error code:
    54814357-1f52-4a24-8ec2-94575071770d ?

The short answers is, No. There is no way.

You would have to search your Windows registry for that GUID string and see if you can figure out what plug-in it belongs to. The only problem is… if it’s missing, it’s probably not in your registry so you have no way of knowing what it was. If, however, this project came from another computer that has still the plug-in, then you can search the registry of the other computer and try and find it.

It is on my other computer.
But then I suspect it might be a NewBlueFx calling for a non-OFX version which have not been installed on my new computer.

I don’t know if opening an old project with NewBlueFx non-OFX needs non-OFX in order to open up correctly?

I would check every shot on my timeline, only this project is over 3 hours long with to many shots to check for, so I am looking for a shortcut here.

I will try to run some NewBlueFx non-OFX and have them open with OFX and see what happens.

    Thanks John

It absolutely does. The non-OFX version and DirectX versions are seen as completely different plug-ins by Vegas. If you use a DriectX version of NewBlueFX then you need to install the same DirectX version to continue with the project.

It’s the DirectX Rack Focus plugin in NewBlue Video Essentials II.

If you’re using OpenFX in the new version, you can manually switch it out to the new version but you’ll have to manually add it and then properly set the settings. Or you can go ahead and install the DirectX version as well. Both DirectX and OpenFX can be installed at the same time.
