  • Can I erase my FCPX 10.1.1 Library & Events and Start Over Clean?

Posted by Ned Miller on March 23, 2014 at 10:40 pm

I have just started with X and downloaded some exercise files from the Lynda tutorial site and had some Projects & Events from when I was using the previous version. Now it’s a mess and I would like to just erase them all and start over. Is that OK? Will X start clean a new Library? I am on OS 10.9.2 if that matters.

    Thanks for your advice

10.1.1 will ignore your old projects and events. Once you open it will create a library with an empty event inside. You can then update your old events and projects, X will look for the old folder structure and create a library with an event containing your updated projects, and all the updated events.

Of course, if you don’t want your old practice events an projects you can erase them, X won’t read them anyway unless you tell it to update.

And of course you don’t want just “A” library. If you work like most, you want a library for each job you do. And I use the word job of course because FCPX hijacked the word project.
