Firstly thanks to everyone who has helped with all my recent posts. My normal DVCAM to DVD lifestyle has been interupted by a job that grows ever larger! Anyway – i’m getting the next batch on Beta SP. If i get someone else (with a Beta deck) to capture onto an external drive can can i just import and edit in 10bit 4:2:2 with Pro? I’m considering buying the cheap Decklink SDI card and borrowing / hiring a deck as and when required. Can Pro output back to Beta SP at the same level of quality? Any other considerations i should be aware of as i leap up a level?
    Thanks again,
    Tim.

Yes, once you inut it into Premiere it will actually be convertd to DV then just out put back to beta. Looks great I do it all the time.

Personally I wouldn’t convert SP to DV and then back to SP (unless you’re happy with the results). I think you’ll be much better off with a basic Decklink SP card which provides analog component YUV video I/O, analog balanced XLR audio I/O, genlock input, RS-422 control, and PPro drivers. You should also get a blackburst generator.

    Hi,
i’m a little confused here – so PPro edits natively in DV? In order to edit Beta SP i need supporting Hardware & codecs? Can i get the footage captured elsewhere, put on a Hard drive and import the files into PPro, installing the codec, and keep the quality in a software only environment?
