I’ve been editing voiceovers into commercials for broadcast along with some music. I’ve always had a hard time balancing the two so they both sound good. The music is stereo, and the vo’s I get are mono. I noticed that if I double the mono v.o. the voice sounds richer and can compete with the music better. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t do this? (I’m not good with Soundbooth yet, so I don’t know what to do to the mono track to make it sound better as far as using an effect.)

I’m not sure that “doubling” will help, but if you want to try you can put the same mono clip on two mono tracks in PPro, then pan one hard left and the other hard right.

Hopefully someone with an audio engineering background will post an authoritative answer.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

    Cheers
