  • Can I convert P2 to QuickTime with no loss and all audio?

Posted by Roli Rivelino on May 18, 2010 at 5:59 pm

I’m having a nightmare trying to copy/upload my P2 contents, so I’m wondering is there any way to convert all the P2 media into .mov with all four tracks of audio intact?

    Many thanks

FCP 6 and 7, using QT 7.6…do this just fine. There is ZERO quality loss, as all FCP is doing is wrapping the files in to QT wrapper. As long as you have all 4 tracks chosen in the L&T interface, all will come over.

    What is happening?

    To where?

This is exactly what log and transfer does.

I think he mentioned in another thread that he hasn’t got FCP.

Thanks guys, just to ask one more and answer your additional questions:

Shane: As long as you have all 4 tracks chosen in the L&T interface, all will come over.

Sorry I’m being a bit dozy here, I can’t work out what the L&T interface is?

To answer both of you, I just signed up to the mobileme idisk, as I have someone in NYC that I have to get these files over to, I was prepared to wait the 2 or so days it was going to take to upload them to my public folder, so that he could access them.

However after leaving them for some hours quietly uploading I got some kind of MXF video error and it crashed and all that had uploaded was an empty audio folder.

Soooo I figured if I convert them to .movs which will be 2gb or less, I can then yousendit to him, laborious but better than posting I think, as then I have to go out and buy a mini drive and secure post etc. etc.

Really appreciate your help on this one guys.

Doh! Just understood what you meant there Shane, Log & Transfer :-). But sorry to ask, once I’ve logged and transferred into FCP do I just export as a self contained QT?

Check your capture scratch folder. ALl the QTs will be in there.
