  • Can I change Project settings AFTER editing? – AUDIO

Posted by Jill Simpson on February 3, 2009 at 11:51 pm

Do I need to decide if I want the project to be Stereo or 5.1 Surround Sound before I [otherwise-edit] the project?

    Resample and stretch quality
    – If I have added audio files, then change the resample quality, will those audio files be resampled at the new quality rate?
    – If I time-stretch audio events, then change the (resample and) stretch quality, will those audio events be re-processed?

    Bit depth:
    – If I change bit depth, I’d guess the sfap0 and sfk files will need to be re-created. I don’t know if rendering makes use of peak files, but I’d guess I should ‘Rebuild Audio Peaks’ (Shift-F5) anyway.

Also, what peak level would you set to satisfy broadcast standards?
    The default is:
    Normalize Peak Level (dB): -0.1

The answers to these questions are not in the help file, and nor did I find them in my internet searches.

    Hi Jill,

You can change preferences at any time in vegas. all stretching, resampling is done in real time, so unless you rendered out sections of the project it should resample on export to whatever project settings you choose. The peak files should be fine, as they are calculated on the original which is not being altered by project preferences

Broadcast peak levels are -6, with dialogue in or around -12
    DVD is -3
    Web is usually -0.1

    Hope that helps

    Dave
