Can I change .ai files from Millions of colors to Grayscale ?
I have a 3d comp with some massive textures created in Illustrator. (about 2000X2000 pixels each)
In the project window I see AE interperts them as “Millions of Colors+”.Is there any way to change these graphics to some sort of greyscale, so they would render quickly
(is there any differnece, anyway ?)cheers

No… even if there were, AE converts everything to RGB color space anyway, for compositing.
Do you have continuous rasterize on? That could slow down things. Sometimes it helps to create tifs from the illustrator art, unless you are going to need the vectors up close.
Try previewing at half res, or skipping every other frame during RAM preview to speed up previewing.

If your previews are too slow you could also use proxies.

I’m working proxies now. only problem is that collapse trans. thing..
oh well, it’s a chance to see if my brain will remember to turn these on
during render bonanaza ..cheers
