June 24, 2006 at 11:49 pmyou sure can, but it must capture into the SDI of the Kona 3 card, not transfered via firewire. what kind of deck are you using? a JVC deck like the BRDV6000-SDI Professional DV Recorder with SDI Output Card for example. Also, the newer Sony and other SD decks have SDI output options.
if you have an analog deck, converters like the HD10AVA or the D10AD can provide Analog to SDI.
and of course, if you have another kona card, you can always output from one SDI and ingest to the Kona 3.
those are 3 ideas, but in order to utilize the card for transcoding other codecs (or upconverting SD to 720 or 1080) it must come be captured through SDI.
any of that help?

June 26, 2006 at 11:30 amThe other option if you do not have an SDI deck is to go the Media Manager route.
1. Capture all of your DV firewire
2. Use media manager to recompress to DVCPRO50
3. Edit DVCPRO50David
Peace and Love 🙂

June 26, 2006 at 2:39 pmThanks, since my DVCam deck does not have SDI I’ll have to try and use the Media Manager method. I digitized D9 to DVCPro 50 today and it worked fine…through the SDI input.
Thanks,
