June 18, 2006 at 9:29 pmi think. its to low for tv programs….
because i usually use 8 mb/s in velocity using firewire….but i understand what u mean about “DV tape captured via firewire will yield DV quality video, no more, no less.”
actually i have a blackmagic decklink pro and only have SDI i/o on it.
digibeta and vtr DSR 45.can u give me direction for me to set up all that device….so i can get 8mb/s….
in detail please…..(i work under pal system)
thanks a lot..thx

June 19, 2006 at 1:03 pmWell, if that’s what you are insisting on… Just digitize your footage using the SDI thru your Blackmagic card using the DV50 codec. Anything else is just a watse of space and time.
BTW, what codec sre you using on your velocity system? DV uses a 5:1 compression ratio, therefore it is very normal to see 25Mb/s DV captured at 3.6 mb/s. That’s very standard for NTSC video so I’m very sure that PAL numbers are somewhere close to that. The reason why I ask what codec is beacuse if you choose DV-PAL in your Easy Setups in FCP, it will capture your footage somewhere around the range of 3.6 mb/s. The Velocity may work differently than FCP and that’s where your confusing is coming from.
