  • Can FCPX use Thunderbolt external LaCie Drive?

Posted by Paul Szilard on June 15, 2013 at 12:11 pm

I am running out of space on my SSD in the MBP, however I have a LaCie 4TB BigDisk Thunderbolt, but have not been able to get FCPX to make any use of that. Can it be done? How?

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

Perhaps its not correctly formated. I use 3TB Lacie, bought it, connected it, works.

I regularly use a TB drive with FCPX. Do you see the drive in the event browser?

I have the 1TB LaCie Thunderbolt drive connected via Thunderbolt and am using it at this instant and it works fine.

create a FINAL CUT EVENTS folder and FINAL CUT PROJECTS folder on the root level of the external drive.

Final cut will then recognize the ext drive and treat it the same as it treats these folders on your system drive or any other drive

    I mainly use LaCie drives for my FCP X editing – Currently have 2 x 1TB Thunderbolt 2 x 2TB Thunderbolt and 1 x 3TB Thunderbolt – All work flawlessly – I have a 4TB Promise Thunderbolt as main backup / storage – No problems Using an iMac 27″
