April 19, 2010 at 1:11 amI am very excited about this announcement from Black Magic! As a lifelong DaVinci user, it’s really fantastic news! Thank you Grant Petty, and Black Magic.
Am soon to try to interface the Resolve Linux based software with the 2K panels. Will let you know as things progress. Also very interested in working with my JLCooper panel when the Mac version is ready. Will be in touch with JLCooper to inquire into their efforts to interface with Resolve this week. I have also worked extensively with the Wave, and the large trio of Tangent panels, which are terrific. For the money the JLCooper seems the most robust, and versitile. The Wave still requires a lot of mouse or pen and tablet moves. The Euphonix does not have enough programmable features or leds. Had to keep the software interface open to see what controls what. -

April 30, 2010 at 9:31 amI think the question is can this new Resolve integrate into telecine operations, meaning control a telecine?
There are many Telecine 2k Plus installations that would need a successor to the 2k Plus. Can the new Resolve Linux be that?———————————–

Nope, neither Resolve version is that. There is no telecine control available with either the Linux or Mac version.
However, there may be third party products available to address this. The Corona from Film Systems might be one solution, at least for controlling the telecine to ingest into the Resolve. It allows a telecine to be controlled as a VTR.
