  • Can Clipping Audio Cause Play Back to “Drop Frames”

    Guys,

Here’s my question. I’m trying to output from FCP v 5.14 to a DVD recorder by just playing the time line and recording it (Time code does not matter for us, these are like dailies).

Of course I render the sequence before outputting but I have found that in places where the audio clips play back pauses and gives me the famous “droped frames” message. Certain sound FX may also be causing it I suppose, but my question is can clipping audio cause this problem and if so can clipping video signals (say over 100 IRE) cause this as well?

We are working on a massive 131 meg final cut file. It’s a feature leangth movie. I’ve been trying to manage that down as well but this could also be a cause I suppose.

We have 3.5 gigs of ram so that should not be an issue.
