  • Can C4D do 29.97 fps?

    Hi:

I’m unclear as to whether C4D can do a true 29.97 frame rate. If I try to input 29.97 into the Project Settings Frame Rate dialog it truncates to 29. The Render Settings indicate a 29.97 frame rate, though the resulting image sequence shows up as 30fps. I don’t know whether it’s really doing 29.97 or 30fps.

I’m working on a virtual set, tracking greenscreen footage in Syntheyes, exporting as a Lightwave scene and importing that into C4D. The video is 1920×1080, 29.97 fps. The track looks good in Syntheyes, but looks a little off in C4D, and I’m wondering if that’s due to a frame rate mismatch.

    Thanks.

The answer is no. Usually it’s not noticeable but if it is the best you can do is time stretch the difference in post.

    Thanks for the reply.

I’ll do everything at 30fps like I do in Lightwave. I think my tracking problems might have been due to a bad track in Syntheyes, which I think I’ve corrected.
