  • Can an ATI HD 4870 video card run Avid Media Composer?

    Hi,

I just built a new computer recently and I’m thinking of purchasing the latest Avid editing suite. However after reading the requirement for support graphic cards, it chills me. It appears that ONLY Nvidia cards are supported. Does that mean that my ATI HD 4870 won’t work at all with this programme? Or does it mean that it won’t run as smooth as a Nvidia Quadro FX / Geforce does?

I really would like to use AMC, please help. thanks

Well, it’s a toss up, but you are likely to have problems. Or, it may be OK at first, but later issues will start to ramp up.

Avid is very particular about hardware. If you want to be editing instead of troubleshooting, go with Avid’s recommendations.

You will want to check your build against Avid’s other specifications too.
