  Can a tripod and gimbal put together, perform this type of camera trick?

  Basically I saw some tutorials of how you can hook your gimbal up to a tripod, and get more leveled motion so it moves like a slider.

  However, in all the tutorials, they can only move the gimbal sideways, so it looks like it’s sliding sideways. I was wondering, is it possible to hook a gimbal up to a tripod, and then turn the camera sideways, so that you can do a slow ‘push in’, or ‘push out’? Or is there no way to turn the camera sideways, while hooked onto a tripod?
