  • Cameratracker export from AE to cinema4d axis all wrong

    Hey all,

I’ve been trying out The Foundry’s Cameratracker in AE with great success for a project I’m doing now… tracking green screen footage in AE, exporting to Cinema4d by way of the new C4D export plug, and then building 3d geometry in Cinema4d. All has worked pretty well except for the last shot I’m trying to track.

It’s a complex shot where a shaky handheld camera “dollies” back while rotating around the subject almost a full turn. After a lot of trial and error, I’ve got a pretty good match move track in AE, where a solid will stick the ground nicely. The problem is, when I export the data to C4d through the export plugin and open in C4D, everything is completely wonky and the axis are all off. No matter how I set the ground plane in Cameratrack in AE, it’s always way off in C4D. Does anyone have any advice? I will also post this in the AE forum in the event it’s better asked there. Thanks, much.

I haven’t watched it all, but here’s a tutorial which covers what you’re doing. Hopefully he addresses your issue.

Thanks Jim. I have seen that… lucky for him, unfortunately for me, he doesn’t have the same problems. Ha!
