I’m looking at upgrading my still (max. $200) and tape less video pro-consumer cameras (max. $2000).

It would be nice if both camera video file options include some that are compatible with fcp, but for the most part, a lot of these cameras, tape less video or still cameras, shoot in compressions that are not ideal for editing. Any experience with cameras that give you compatible files?

    Thanks,
    PC

They all seem to favour H264, some with custom file wrappers. All require conversion for editing. This is such a common discussion, I suggest a search of the forum will reveal others attempts to get these prosumer and DSLR camera to work in FCP.
