Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions Camera tutorials?

  • Posted by Jaime Lackner on November 21, 2006 at 4:43 pm

    Hello,
I have seen some basic camera tutorials for AE on the cow, but are there any new/advanced tutorials out there?
Does anyone else find the camera a pain to animate?
I don’t know 3D apps, but would really like to create some interesting moves with the camera in AE.
    Thanks so much in advance
    Jaime

This is from John Dickson (IMHO one of the best)
    https://www.motionworks.com.au/gallery/gallery_mgfx_mov_23.htm

I asked him about the 3D camera work he wrote…

The camera was actually pretty easy to control, I parented the camera to a 3D null then set up expression effects linked to the null’s X and Z position, that way I could use sliders to track the camera left and right and dolly it in and out.

I asked for a bit more detail and he put together this “.aep”…

Even with this example, I’m lost. I understand parenting the camera to the null, but I can’t figure out how to get to the “master control” stage. And I’m starting to pull my hair out.
