    Hi there,

Does anyone know how to use camera tool in AE to create the effect of camera flash for an image?

    Thanks for any useful advice.

Hmm … the camera tool doesn’t do that sort of thing. It’s more like a positionable eye that happens to use camera-like numbers for focal length and DOF.

You could search the COW for “camera flash” or download the demo of Effect Essentials. It includes a Camera Flash plugin which should be enabled, unlike the rest of the plugs in the demo, which are disabled in some way.

I actually just like to use the Effect called Levels to create the flash. I play with the input white values, and maybe add a glow and blur – all keyframed so that one moment things look normal, and say, 4 frames later it’s all broght up so it looks like a flash.

You should put the effects in the following order:

    Blur
    Glow
    Levels
