Camera to 1200a Firewire Dub
Anyone know if its possible to dub/transfer 720 or 1080 24p footage shot on P2 cards directly from the camera, via firewire, to the 1200a deck? Or, what is the easiest way to make a tape backup…native DVCPROHD.

Thanks. Is this something you’ve tried? I’m also wondering the process for doing this after its been transferred to the P2Store. We won’t get our cameras two weeks or so and need to start preparing for these issues.

I haven’t done it, but Michael Caporale has; he shot the music video for John Brennan(?) using an HVX recording straight to a 1200A.
After transferring to the P2 Store though… well, I’d guess you’d have to import and play the files out of your NLE if you wanted to get them back out onto tape…

Interesting…that leads me to: can you dump footage from the P2Store BACK to P2 Cards? In that case you could clear your P2Cards and reload them with the P2Store’s footage for the transfer to the 1200. ??

You can transfer footage from a computer back to the cards. Don’t know if you can do so directly from the P2 Store or not, but you could plug it into a laptop and plug the card in the laptop’s slot, and copy that way…

the P2 Store is only USB and the 1200a is only FW (1394) the 2 devices are not directly compatible.Gary Adcock

I understand that the P2Store is USB, but I’m wondering if you can move footage back to the Card from the P2Store inorder to transfer it from the card in the camera to the deck. So…it will still be camera to deck.
