I have a question. I want to simulate a POV of a person running on a treadmill.
I’ve created a point of reference and a plane so you get a sense of vantage.

But the camera motion is very linear and not organic.
Is there a script or tutorial on it?
    Thanks

Tried applying the wiggle expression with a low frequency?

    Hi Jeff,
I did a walking POV sim in AE7, startd using the wiggler and adjusted alternate keyframes horizontally mostly as the verticle height of human steps are pretty uniform, but it took a lot of tinkering, tried also keyframing manually as was relatively short clip, approximatley 8 seconds, but you’re right it doesn’t look very organic more like an old video game… but after playing about with the keyframes for a few hours it came out really great, the guy/POV collapses to his knees then onto the floor at the end which took some keyframe abuse…

But the main thing I found was the camera#s Point of Interest is more important, that is to keep it focused on say the TV.

Sorry this was so long, hope it helps in some way.

I would probably try to write some kind of nifty expression to help alter the motion because I’m lazy. At least, that’s the justification I would give myself while I was trying for hours to get the expression just right…

Basically, there’s probably not an easy way to get an organic POV just right the first time, it will take a lot of tweaking. However, I’d still like to throw in my two cents:

You could use a low frequency Sine function, or some other periodic function, to try and simulate the main motion, then add additional motion through other higher frequency periodic functions (or a wiggle() expression). I would definitely recommend adding horizontal and vertical wiggles/noise to the motion. I would also suggest linking the frequency and amplitude of any functions you write to some Slider expression control effects (so you have more control over the animation).

Here are some Wikipedia articles that might help get you thinking:

the trick is to make a tracking chart and film it wiggle the camera the way you want it to look then import the clip and track the points you want to use and then apply the motion to the clip you want to effect.

I think this is the simple alternative you were looking for and will allow you total creative freedom!!!

for example …. do a chart with 2x tracking dots on a clean surface than you can apply the rotation too.

    good luck.
