Hi, first time poster – long time reader…

I’m looking at buying a couple of cameras for corporate work.
I came across the JVC Pro models (GY-HD110U, GY-HD-200UB and GY-HD250U).
Excuse my ignorance, but can anyone tell what the basic differences are – is it simply more lens controls or different versions of HD or something?

I’ve been using DV cameras to date (Canon XM2, Xl1, JVC DV500, Sony PD170) and i’m finding this move into HD a bit daunting! Would I have to buy a deck the same brand as the camera to capture HD to my Mac Pro?

I’m open to suggestions of any camera with a few requirements: has to be HD and capable of recording to dual media (tape and Hard Drive simultaneously).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    Aiden,
Welcome to the CCow. JVC ProHD Cams are the best!
    Differences in a nutshell:
    HD110 – 12 bit processing / 24 & 30fps
    HD200 – 14 bit processing / 24, 30, 60fps / pro battery option included
HD250 – everything the HD200 has plus HDSDI output and genlock
(Lens controls and rec formats are the same)

I would say the HD200 with a firestore would be an excellent investment.
The file sizes are smaller than DV! Yes, smaller, and they look fantastic.
Good luck on your camera search.

    Hello,

Not sure if our timing is off but, we have a very nice 250 with Matt Box and Shipping Case for sale. We are moving into the Varicam world so, we have decided to sell our JVC. Very low hours, very clean.
