    hi, i posted a while back with this question, and got no response. hopefully you guys can help me. i am wondering if any special precautions need to be taken when shooting bright sources of light like welding spark or molten glass. thanks- brent mcdaniel

    I wouldn’t point at them for more than a few seconds at a time. It’s not like burning out your eyes but over time you can damage the camera depending on the proximity and intensity of the light sources.

    There was a thread on another forum where a guy fried his XL2 CCD block by shooting footage of a green laser. I’ve never had any problems shooting sparks flying from metal grinders, etc… don’t think I’ve ever shot any welding though. But lasers — that’s another thing altogether, so be careful around those.

    thanks for the info, barry. i have no plans to shoot any lasers, at least not yet! by the way, i love your book. it has been a wealth of information for me. thanks
