  • Camera near clipping fade

    Hi,

I have a scene with 10 objects in that I pass from behind the camera into view, and I would like to clip the near plane, so they don’t appear huge, and I’d like to have a fade on this, so they don’t just pop on. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thanks

I’d use Xpresso to drive the visibility parameter of a display tag based upon the objects’ distance to the camera. It doesn’t show up in the OGL viewport but it does in the rendered output.

    Example: 11481_fadewithdistance.c4d.zip

That’s great thanks. I know next to nothing about Xpresso. So if all those cubes were seperate and moving at different speeds and coming past the camera at different points, would I need an Xpresso node for each one? At the moment I’m just animating the visibility by hand.

Hmm, I was trying to set it up so it would work separately for each object but I should have tested it that way because it doesn’t in it’s current form. Couldn’t, of course, because each object would need it’s own visibility tag. So you’d have to use a modified setup for each one.
