    Hello,

The camera in my AE doesn’t seem to be keyframing. I’m still learning

the camera, but according to all the tutorials I’ve seen, I’m doing this

right. Please let me know what I’m missing or what the problem could be

    here.

Making a very, very simple example-

•I create a new solid in a new composition, creating a rectangle (not

even using a background here for simplicity).

•I make sure the Pan Behind is in the center of the object.

•I put the rectangle layer in 3D.

•I create a new camera-my settings there are:
    35mm
    zoom 840
    film size 102.05
    angle of view: 54.43
    focal length: 99:21
    lock to zoom
    units: pixels
    measure file size: horizontally

•I place a keyframe at the beginning of the camera track by hitting the

    stop watch next to “Position”.

•Next, I scroll into the comp a couple seconds and move the object all

the way to the edge. I repeat this every 2 seconds in my 10 second comp,

bringing it back and forth from edge to edge. I’m doing this with the

“Track XY Camera Tool”. The object moves from edge to edge when I’m

    placing the keyframes.

•However, as soon as I scroll the cursor back to the beginning of the

comp to even just drag it to the right to look at it, the object remains

sitting on the far right edge and wiggles back and forth slightly!

Doesn’t even resemble anything I have keyframed. It does the same thing

if I do a RAM preview.

I wish I had a screen recorder to show you but don’t (and I doubt the

company I work for would allow me to download one) so hopefully I

explained this accurately, but basically the position keyframes in the

camera don’t seem to work, or execute. They go in there fine when I move

the cursor and then the object, but they don’t “take”-don’t work when

    played back.

I read somewhere about advice to be sure “auto orient” is selected. I

also tried this and the same thing happened.

I’ve tried several fresh projects, restarted the PC and updated it. Maybe camera settings?

    Any suggestions?

    thanks much!

If it’s just a rectangle for now, save the project and upload it here(last icon in the message box). I’ll open the project and take a look at what you are doing.

By the way, UW Alum, On Wisconsin!

thanks, John. Sorry it took so long to get back here-turns out on our CS3 I just needed to adjust “point of interest” instead of “position” like the 2 or 3 tutorials I watched told me to!
