I have a part of a logo that I want my camera to follow as it reveals on, similar to this:

I already used the stroke effect and Luma Matte to animate the reveal. It works great. Then I rotated it so it is lying horizontal in my composition. My problem is lining up and controlling the camera. I’ve tired different techniques like parenting the camera to a null object and pasting a motion path, as well as key-framing the motion manually. Nothing I do looks fluid and trying to play with rotation and position of the camera or null object (or logo layer) just gets confusing. The rotation especially throws me off. I move the camera forward along the line, but then the line curves around I just can’t get the camera to follow it.

What is the best way to achieve this effect?

    Hi man.

Parenting the Cam to a 3D Null gives you more control on the animation, specially when you separate dimensions of the position so you can paste on Zpos the same path used on the stroke that is being revealed. Adjust the keyframes on time for the Z movement you want to get, and then you can play with the Z rotation of the camera to get the kind of movement on the reference you post.

Also, dealing with ‘ease in’ or ‘ease out’ on the keyframes can give you a more-organic animation.

That’s only one suggestion there may be many methods to achieve this. Hope this can help you man.

    Cheers.
